Hey gang! Sorry to let you down, but both blogs are going on a brief vacation for a few weeks. This next week is probably going to busy, between Day Job stuff and preparing for an actual trip (we’re heading back to New England to visit friends and family).
We’ll be back fresh and ready to go in November! Until then, don’t eat too much Halloween candy!
Apologies for the lack of substantive posts lately. The Day Job hasn’t been insanely busy, but it’s been consistently busy, which means I have not had a moment to pop online and do any posting. Plus I’ve been doing a lot of offline and personal things well, so I don’t always have the time to pop in and post.
And yes, I’m still editing. That’s going to be a while. *sigh*
I’ve been thinking about this for awhile now, and it’s high time I act on it.
I’m going to take a little time off and think about what I want to do with this blog. Of course I’d like to keep it going, but it seems to have lost its direction. Or more to the point, I never gave this blog much of a direction other than posting thoughts about writing and all the behind-the-scenes stuff that goes along with it. One can only be a pantser for so long before one runs out of ideas and starts repeating themselves.
More importantly: I’ve been VERY lax with the business end of the writing biz lately as well, and that is not a good thing.
I have two books out there doing diddly because I haven’t been trying to sell them. They’re just…out there. In a void.
And that needs to change. I need to put them under the spotlight again.
Plus — and this is a BIG plus — I have some publishing-related plans that I’d like to put into action. More on that at a later time, but for now, those plans need serious attention.
So.
I’m not sure how long I’ll be afk, but I won’t be posting again, at least with any susbstance, at least until mid-August. I may do a fly-by or two, but that’s about it.
Thanks for your patience and understanding. I’m hoping I’ll be recharged and a hell of a lot more active when I return.
Oh, hey there! I’ll be scarce the next couple of weeks as I kick my own ass trying to get The Persistence of Memories out and (relatively) on time by end of month. I’m making serious headway on this last Evil Red Pen No Seriously This Is the Final Line Edit, cleaning it up so y’all will enjoy it when it’s released.
Oof! Between the end of Q4 sneaking up on me at the Day Job, and giving myself some insane writing deadlines over the next few months, I don’t have too much time to spare for any blog posts of quality. And I’d rather not post something half-assed here (I mean, aside from the occasional silly fly-by post like this one to let you know I’m still here and functioning) if I can help it. Sorry about that.
Thanks for your patience, I hope to be a little more on track soon! 🙂
Hey gang! Sorry to be so elusive here lately…Day Jobbery and preparing for next week’s vacation has been keeping me busy (not to mention Doing All the Editing in my spare moments), so alas, I have not been able to follow up with any posts on a reasonable schedule.
Man, I really hate 4th Quarter when it comes to the day job. It completely screws with my writing schedule. [Not to say I hate the job, per se…just the volume and intensity that messes everything up.]
Once I return from our vacation, everything should be back to normal.
Oh, hi there! Yes, I am still here among the living. We’re currently staying in a nice quiet hotel in the Earl’s Court neighborhood of London, and we’ve been doing all sorts of sightseeing, museum visiting, and pub crawling the last few days.
I admit I don’t currently have any new posts at the moment other than this fly-by, but I have some things going in the background that I shall share soon enough. I’ve also been getting a decent amount of page count for the new MU story as of late. It’s been a busy but fun vacation so far!
Hi there! First time attempting to post via my phone, so please excuse any typos or errands! 🙂
If I have time tomorrow I shall post January’s word count and output…a quick glance in my wc notebook shows that I was actually quite busy, so that makes me happy.
Sorry for the delay in posts here, it’s been a busy couple of weeks! We will be heading to the UK at the end of this week for Worldcon, so I will most likely not be able to provide any updates until I return.
[There is the temptation to post from the UK, as I will be bringing my tablet with me, but that will ultimately depend on if I have the time in between the convention and doing all the goofy touristy things one does on vacation. We shall see.]
My apologies for not updating here over the last few weeks! It’s been a crazy couple of weeks, between work-related issues and deadlines as well as getting some serious work done on my Walk in Silence book outline, so I’m afraid I haven’t had the time to keep this updated.
As of now, I’m where I want to be with the WiS work at the moment, and things should quiet down considerably on the work end of things. Which means I have absolutely no reason not to be updating these more often.
SO!
Starting now, I’m hoping to have at least one update a week here, and perhaps update even more once soon after. I still have quite the backlog of posts I have planned–they’re staring me in the face on a clipboard above my desk as we speak–so I hope to get these out to you as soon as I can.
Hey there! Sorry to keep you all waiting for new entries here at Welcome to Bridgetown…I’ve been busy with a number of things both personal and otherwise, so I haven’t had the time to sit down and do some serious writing about the Mendaihu Universe, or about writing in general.
That said, after the Easter holiday, I plan on getting back on the high horse and posting new entries here and at Walk in Silence as well. Here’s a few offerings I have in store:
–On Spiritualism: the One of All Sacred and other deities in the Mendaihu Universe
–On Language in the Mendaihu Universe: speaking and innerspeak
–On Faith in the Mendaihu Universe: the Personal and the Religious
–On Dialogue: Realism versus conversation
–On Conlangs in Fiction: When should a writer use it?
